Launch Event

The launch event took place on October 17th, 2019.

 

Dr. Dimitrios Paraforos gave an overview about food systems as a holistic concept and the kind of challenges that are associated with it, e.g. changing diets, increasing population, food waste, etc. Students were then presented with some key facts about EFSET, including its partners and the overarching objective. Further, an introduction to EIT Food and IFSTAL were given.

Ms Fabienne Seibold represented John Deer company. She talked about how EFSET can help students to acquire certain soft skills needed in a work environment, outlining the importance of extracurricular activities to increase employability and how intrinsic motivation is key for completing such tasks.

Ms Pavlenko presented the programme structure and informed students about the four unique online units and complementary local workshops by giving brief descriptions about their contents and their connectedness in the systemic concept. Further, Ms Pavlenko elaborated on the practical handling of the EFSET platform by going over the steps necessary for creating an EFSET account through the local learning platform ILIAS and getting access to the learning material. The launch event was concluded with a 15 minutes Q&A session, followed by the official opening of the buffet.
